Starfish

Starfish is a non-profit that aims to empower underrepresented artist-entrepreneurs and amplify their culture-defining ideas.

We aimed to create an established aesthetic that would introduce Starfish as a trustworthy and pioneering social enterprise to the industry. The subsequent logo, branding, and typography are bold, bright, and fearless, acting as a champion to the community and its people.

Letting the letters speak

The logo was hand drawn, creating imperfect letterforms that own their individuality but work together as a team. Punctuating the wordmark is an abstracted starfish acting as a spotlight -- the inner circle becoming an eye that directs you back.

The story of the starfish


The Starfish name draws inspiration from the parable of the starfish and a spider. Sever a spider's legs, and it dies; remove a starfish's tentacle, and it regenerates. This resilience reflects the brand's spirit.

The branded starfish is a nod to the story while also serving as a spotlight on the mission of finding and uplifting artists.
